Cosmic Groove Transmission [8TR-001]

Cosmic Groove Transmission are an insanely funky duo from Leeds, England. Inspired by bleeps, bloops, and beats and the sounds of an evening at Back To Basics (and the shenanigans of our good friend and Basics resident Huggy) CGT decided long ago to make quirky jacking tracks with a vengeance. The lads have since had a relentless release schedule with top efforts for equally top labels such as Brique Rouge, Low Pressings, Odori, Gourmet, and DIY. Now they've infiltrated the EIGHT-TRACKS camp with the sublime and body-popping “Just Looking”.

“Just Looking” features the haunting rapping-hood vocals of CGT reciting an oddly familiar lyric. Edge-of-breaky house beats hammock the tight bass and liquid dripping synth bits … it's a delicious groove that will move butts on many a dancefloor. Bravo.

Robbie Hardkiss, coming off of his huge “Everything Is Changing” single for Classic and the amazing “Get Up” for Hallucination Limited, takes to the track like this is a Funk Off at the OK Corral. Twenty paces then REMIX! Mixing floor-filling house magic, an electro-funk groove right out of Roger Troutman's sock drawer, and a bit of that Hardkiss mischief Robbie has delivered a mix that is equally loved by the four-on-the-floor brigade as well as the breaks battalion.

Q-Burns Abstract Message also lends his signature sound to his fantastic remix of “Just Looking”. Some new kinky beats and a slinky bassline give the effected vocals a new landscape … rhythmic foot shaking shall commence. Hold It Down Magazine has already deemed this mix “a funky, tribal, acid house inspired dance floor monster that will light up the cooler house-clubs … (it) comes with the highest of recommendations.”

As if you needed more, this EP closes out with another churner by the Cosmic Groove Transmission boys. “Twisted Generation” slows down the pace but raises the chunkiness … a perfect end of the night slam or lounge party stomper that is a nifty bonus for the house DJ needing a secret weapon in his bag. These beats were made for rockin'.
